WECare: Letterland Graduation Ceremony at SWCSS

06 June 2012
On 6 June 2012, in a classroom filled with laughers and sense of achievement, students of SWCSS’s Letterland class received the course completion certification from Tina Wah, General Manager of WEC. Through immersive activity of fun phonics learning, students did not only learnt the fundamentals of English phonics, but also became more competent in idea expression using English.

“It is an emotional and happy moment for the pupils in SWCSS and also for WEC." said Tina Wah, General Manager of WEC.

Starting last March 2012, a professional English teacher from UK was invited and supported by WEC to teach English phonics in a Hong Kong local primary school, San Wui Commercial Society School. Every week the English teacher, Ms. Kim Jackson through interactive stories, brought the primary students to Letterland, an imaginary place where phonics learning was experienced with great fun.

Letterland is a unique, phonics-based approach to teaching reading, writing and spelling to 3-8 year olds. Its information-rich Letterland characters transform plain black letter shapes into child-friendly pictogram characters, who live in an imaginary place called Letterland.
